What does eoan mean?

The word eoan has its roots in Greek (eos), meaning “of or related to the dawn.” The eoan sky, as it graces a new day, can renew hope, rekindle action, and refresh thought. The energy of a new dawn illuminates ideas—sparking meaningful possibilities for social change.

Like the eoan sky, communications can inspire and invigorate—amplifying voices and catalyzing movements. Through a mix of language, perspectives, and experiences, communications awakens opportunities to tell powerful, compelling stories that resonate with audiences and lead to impact.

That is the philosophy that drives Eoan Strategies—the call to act, the imperative to change, the power to build, and the need to sustain.

What does eoan do?

Eoan Strategies offers Thought Leadership Strategy Development and Strategic Communications Capacity Building to organizations and individuals who want to create change in their communities and across the U.S.

We draw upon more than 30 years of experience in helping foundations, nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and companies articulate their mission, vision, goals, products, and impact in a way that resonates with audiences, and inspires action.

We bring experience working in fields such as K-12 and post-secondary education, public and community health, workforce development, and economic mobility.

We’d like to share a few “understandings” that inform how we can work together:

  • We understand that communications is fundamental to organizational strategy, We have partnered with organizations to incorporate communications into strategic planning, change management, and re-branding initiatives—with a focus on refining a Point of View, defining markets and audiences, and creating and testing messages.

  • We understand the importance of theme, story arc, content, and take-aways when developing conferences, convenings, and webinars. We have designed and implemented events across an array of topics and audiences—and have collaborated with partners to share actionable learnings after the event.

  • We understand the value of communications as a way to drive sustainability. We have facilitated training sessions, provided direct guidance to, and developed strategies for organizations that want to articulate their impact to resonate with funders—extending their work beyond a grant or funding period.

  • We understand the inextricable link between thought leadership and business development. We have designed strategies that have increased organizational visibility; amplified brand; and demonstrated content expertise—resulting in a significant number of new projects, grants, and partnerships.

  • We understand how individual thought leadership strategies can reinforce an organization’s identity. We have worked with staff across organizations to create their own thought leadership strategies—linked to organizational mission, tailored to their expertise, and reflecting a mix of tactics (e.g., blogs, conferences, op-eds, podcasts, etc.)

We have a few more “understandings” to share too. Drop a line to seth@eoanstrategies.com and we can discuss these and others!

What does eoan stand for?

Eoan Strategies believes that any thought leadership or communications strategy must start with a clear Point of View. We model that ourselves, approaching our engagements as:

  • Active Listeners
  • Serial Co-designers
  • Flexible Thinkers
  • Champions of Context
  • Advocates for Equity

We aim to integrate each of these stances in every project we take on.

And in the spirit of collaboration, we would like to thank Lisa Conn, Paula Greenbaum, Bob McIntosh, and Mayda Clarke for contributing several of the sunrise photos on this website!
